Reining, cutting, and working cowhorse are prevalent in Hickory's bloodlines! Hickory Chic Olena is sired by Smart Chic Olena, who has sired offspring earning over $7.7 Million in these events. His dam, SR Hickory Lynn, has produced 11 Foals of which 9 were performers earning over $90,000 - Hickory Chic Olena, Hold That Cow, Smart Chicory, and Olena Covergirl. His 2nd maternal dam, Oaklynn, is the dam of 12 foals of which 9 were performers earning over $440,000 - including SR Hickory Lynn, Paid By Chic, A Lasting Affair, Just Chicynn, Just Like Chicynn and Party Chics.

Hickory Chic Olena began his dynamic career in 1994 with a top 10 placing in the NRHA Limited Open Futurity. He continued by being reserve in the NRHA Non Pro Derby. He was the Reserve Champion SR Reining horse at the Congress as well as Placing 4th in the Amateur Reining at the World Show. He has his Superior in both Open and Amateur AQHA Reining. In January of 2005 he retired at the age of 14 with 176.5 AQHA Performance points and more than $45,300 to his credit after earning numerous championships, reserves and top 10 finishes in Open, Non Pro and Amateur divisions.

He was already making his mark as a sire before his retirement from the show pen. His highest money earner, Diamonds For Chic, has lifetime earnings of $52,978. This 2000 mare rocketed into the spotlight after carrying Wendy Latimer to the 2005 National Reining Breeders Classic Non Pro and Intermediate Non Pro Championships. He was known in the arena for his electrifying moves and tremendous heart, and is exceptionally good-minded, intelligent, determined and charismatic. As a performer, he was precise, honest and dependable, even as a "Super Senior" at age 14. He's an exceptional stallion, much-loved by all, and his foals inherit so many of his qualities including trainability, talent, consistency and 'sweetheart' dispositions.
